In October 2023, after five years, Lonsdale, a United Way BC Hi Neighbour community is evolving and is now a legacy neighbourhood. Working together, with residents, we have supported community leadership and ownership, and strengthened vital connections through numerous community projects (check out the
Little Library map to see how it connects community), volunteerism and special events. Engagement, mobilization, collaboration, organization and sustainability were key phases of this community’s transformation to legacy. Throughout our time in Lonsdale, the Hi Neighbour team heard residents express how a compilation of resources and tools for creating engaging projects would benefit community building. With input from our community partners and Lonsdale residents, we have created the Lonsdale Community Projects Guide. The guide, which is available in English and Farsi, provides residents and community leaders with a comprehensive tool for creating and implementing successful community projects. It includes:

- Tips for starting your own projects, including where to find volunteers, funding, how to find space, and more
